Steep Slope

Steep Slope roofing refers to any product used to cover a roof that is 3:12 or above. Many different options are available for steep slope applications.

Asphalt shingles are available in many different styles, brands and price points from standard 3-tab shingles to architectural shingles to designer shingles.
Metal Roofing is available in exposed or hidden fastener systems , different gauges, colors, panel types and can offer a great option for accent roofs or whole roof applications.
Cedar Shakes/Shingles are a more traditional option. Cedar has been a viable and sustainable roofing product for hundreds of years and is available in many different styles, widths and treatment options. This is the original “green” roof.

Tile  roofing is a great option for high wind and impact zones. It is virtually indestructible and undeniably gorgeous. Available in multiple styles and color options

Slate roofing, like Tile is heavy and nearly impossible to damage once installed. It comes in various widths, thicknesses, colors etc.

Composite roofing materials are now available that mimic the look of slate, tile or cedar. Most often made from recycled materials, this offers an eco-friendly and sustainable option for residential and commercial steep slope applications.

Low Slope

Low slope roofing refers to any product used to cover a roof that is 3:12 or less. These are mostly membrane and coating systems. Most typically found in commercial roofing applications, but also found in residential roofing from time to time.

EPDM  is an extremely durable single ply synthetic rubber roofing membrane ( ethylene propylene diene terpolymer ) most often black but also available in white
TPO  or thermoplastic polyolefin is one of the fastest growing single ply commercial roofing systems on the market. Most notably whit, it also comes in tan, and gray.

Modified Bitumen is a modified asphalt based, multi ply roofing membrane available in SBS or APP. The system consists of a base sheet and at least one cap. Multiple cap sheets and coatings can be applied to meet certain warranty levels. It is available in multiple colors as well as Peel-and-Stick, cold applied or torch down systems. Definitely not a “one size fits all” product.
Coatings are another option for re-roofing a low slope roof. You may think of a coating as a temporary fix, but there are many options available today that offer full systems that can produce the same warranty as membranes.  Elastomerics such as silicone and acrylics, aluminum coatings and synthetic rubber coatings are available that each have their own place in the roofing landscape.
